Every Thursday from Memorial Day through Labor Day, competitors battle for weekly dominance to celebrate the upcoming summer weekend.

👑 Weekly Top Dog Crown

The weekly winner earns the official Hot Dog Top Dog crown and bragging rights, along with the right to display the 👑🌭 emojis in their group chat alias until the next round.

🏆 Season Championship Points

Weekly victories build toward the Ultimate Summer Championship:

  • Regular Season Win: 3 Points
  • Major Win: 6 Points
    (Memorial Day, 4th of July, & Labor Day weeks)

⚡ Additional Competition Rules

  • Buns Optional: Buns are encouraged, but not required.
  • Uniform Dog Sizing: Standard-sized hot dogs and footlongs count equally as 1 hot dog—strategy matters, so choose wisely!
  • Strict Thursday Window: Official counts are accepted exclusively on Thursdays, from 12:00 AM until 11:59 PM.
  • Tiebreaker Rule: In the event of a tie on hot dog count, total bun count serves as the official secondary tiebreaker. Always log your buns!
  • Major Schedule: To preserve the spirit of Hot Dog Thursday, Major competitions take place on the Thursday immediately preceding the holiday.
  • Gentleman's Code: Honor is of the utmost importance. Under no circumstances should you lie about your dog consumption.

Hot Dog Top Dog was born out of a simple summer ritual: gathering every "Hot Dog Thursday" between Memorial Day and Labor Day to kick off the weekend early and settle a crucial question of who can put away the most hot dogs?

What started as a simple group chat tally to crown a weekly "Top Dog" has evolved into the ultimate competitive tracking platform. Whether you are logging standard dogs, tracking bun-count tiebreakers, or fighting for double points during Major holiday weeks, this is where you track every bite on your quest for summer glory.

Do I need an account to create a league?

No! Simply enter a league name and a secret Admin PIN. Anyone with your league link or League ID can view standings, but only administrators with the PIN can log weekly scores.

Where do I find my League ID?

Your League ID is the string of letters and numbers in your browser URL (after ?league=). You can copy this ID or share the direct link with your league members.

How are season totals calculated?

Season totals update automatically behind the scenes whenever a weekly entry is saved or modified. It calculates cumulative hot dog and bun counts across all logged weeks.

Can I edit a past week's score?

Yes. Unlocking the Admin Panel allows you to select any week from the dropdown menu and update a competitor's hot dog and bun counts at any time.
